Cucumber Chilla



Cucumber Chilla!

Yes, this is instant and easy peasy dish to make. Though sounds like a breakfast menu, but most of the time we relish it for our dinner. One dosa crazy family, we are ;) 

A few years ago during a girls lunch date, my friend made these scrumptious chillas for me. So much I enjoyed it, especially when she was serving crisp and hot , felt pampered. I ate countless chillas that day, and for the next time took the recipe from her and since then we as a family just love it :) 

Ingredients 

  • 2 cups grated cucumber 
  • 1 1/2 cups chickpea flour
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped cilantro 
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 3/4 tsp red chili powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • pinch of hing
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp fruit salt (eno)
  • 2 cups water
  • Oil or Ghee as needed

Method 

  • In a mixing bowl, take grated cucumber
  • Add chickpea flour / rice flour / cilantro / green chili / red chili powder / salt / turmeric / cumin & coriander powder / hing, water & mix everything together
  • Add fruit salt just before  making chillas, mix well 
  • With the help of ladle spread the batter on hot griddle, turn side, apply ghee or oil & cook till golden brown from both sides
  • Enjoy hot with choice of green or Imly chutney
