Kanda Bhaji / Onion Pakora

LOL .....count it on my drinks with bhajia ;) favorite starter of all time, don't need any intro!!

Let's get started

Ingredients
  • 1 big onion or 2 medium size, cut into half and slices 
  • 1 cup besan / chickpea flour
  • 1 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 green chili, chopped 
  • Hand full of chopped cilantro 
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp hot oil + for frying
  • 1/2 tsp ajwain
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • Pinch of hing
  • 1 Tbsp of garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp fruit salt

Method

  • In a mixing bowl, add sliced onion / salt / chopped green chili / red chili powder, mix well & let it rest for 5-7 min
  • Now add 1 cup of sifted chickpea flour / 1 tbsp rice flour / cilantro / coriander & cumin powder / garlic paste / turmeric / ajwain / sesame seeds / hing, mix everything together using hands  
  • Add 1/2 tsp of fruit salt, on fruit salt (eno), add 3 tbsp of hot oil & mix everything well. 
  • Use 1 tbsp water at a time to blend everything together, I used 4 tbsp water. 
  • Fry bhaji in hot oil till golden brown, remove on kitchen towel.   
  • Serve hot with green & imly chutney, enjoy hot.
